ACCESSAIR'S RAPID RESPONSE EMERGENCY AIRSTAIR was designed with the collaboration with the FAA Safety Technology Section and several North American Airport Fire Departments to provide Fire & Rescue teams with a multipurpose emergency response vehicle. ACCESSAIR's APS60FR airstair provides rapid access to aircraft by airport firefighters and rescue personnel, as well as a means of rapid evacuate of passengers during emergency situations or aircraft diversions for medical reasons, air rage, police interventions or aircraft fires. As a designated emergency vehicle the APS60FR Airstair eliminates the necessity for emergency crews to search the airport for available airstairs to access aircraft during these common emergency situations.

The basic APS60FR unit includes: an APS model telescopic airstair, a quick-docking platform which can reduce the time for mating with a range of aircraft from the B727 to the Airbus A340 by some 50%.

By incorporating a high pressure foam system as well as a 500 lb. dry chemical which effectively controls and extinguishes pressurized or three-dimensional "class-B" liquid fires, the APS60FR is capable of acting as a "stand-alone", first-response emergency vehicle. A large number of other customer-selected options are also available to enhance the fire & rescue capabilities of the unit.
